Coming To Church

Welcome
You may have been thinking about coming to church for some time. We have written this page to try to make things easier for you to find out more. We promise to make you feel welcome but not put you under any pressure. You are free to come, take a look around and hopefully become a regular member of our congregation.
If, on the other hand, you would like to get more involved, there are plenty of opportunities to use your talents. Again, no pressure — promise!

What happens in church?

At most of our services, we sing songs, listen to Bible readings, praise God, pray, and sometimes share bread and wine. The atmosphere is relaxed and children are most welcome at any time. Don’t feel you have to sing or do anything else that you don’t want to! When you come into church, you will usually be handed a notice sheet which contains information about forthcoming events and contact details. Most of the service material is projected onto screens. If, for any reason you have difficulty reading what is on the screens, please do not hesitate to let us know and we will seek to make alternative provision. Please do not hesitate to ask any questions if you have any concerns whatsoever

Where to sit

Ok so we dont offer a sofa ! however please feel free to sit anywhere in church. You may find it best to avoid the front row so that you can follow the people in front of you.

Sharing of bread and wine (communion)

Members of all Christian churches who normally receive the bread and wine are invited to come and receive communion. If you do not wish to receive communion, we welcome you to come forward to receive a blessing.

Toilet facilities

Do feel free to go out during the service if you need the toilet. Please ask any member of the congregation for directions.

Children

Everyone is welcome at St Georges. We have properly supervised children’s groups most Sundays. If you have small children, don’t worry if they make a bit of noise during the service but if they are very noisy, please feel free to go with them to the crèche at the back of the church.

What to wear

You may be wondering what to wear when coming to church. Ordinary clothes are fine and casual clothes are fine. If you prefer to dress up, that is fine. We want you to feel at home.

After the service

Please join us for a cup of fair-trade tea, coffee, squash followed by Toast and biscuits
You will be most welcome.
